MAS DU NOVI

As we (the Worldwide Festival creators) consider quality as a whole, it was logical for us to take into account more than the artistic side of the festival. Festival goers, connoisseurs or neophytes will have the opportunity to delight themselves in drinking "Mas Du Novi" wine this year at the WF sete 09.

The Domaine de Novi is situated about ten kilometers from Sete, between land & sea, nearby the famous Abbaye de Valmagne (Abbey of Valmagne), built in 1139. The estate is around a hundred hectares, half of which is dedicated to the vine. Ten years ago The Palu Family made up their mind to resurrect the exploitation and produce one of the best nectar in the region: "They have invested a lot of efforts to stand above the rest and have their wine become a major Languedoc product, with a focus on quality and their constant will to be recognised towards both professionals and wine enthusiasts!!" declares Laurent Causin, the sales manager. Red, Rosé, White ... the colors of the wine are highly defended by a passionate oenologist.

Among the thousands of bottles sold each year, the Red Prestigi is a must (2/3 of the sales). The estate, where the Romans had grown the first vines, imitated a few centuries later by the monks or the locals - the "Novices" -, has a perfect orientation towards the South combined with the influence of the Mediterranean sea (humidity, fresh nights). The result is more than respectable: "serious wines that don't take themselves too seriously" jokes Laurent Causin. Willing to expand, but not at any price, the Mas Novi chose not to get into supermarket distribution: "we want to work by word of mouth and satisfy people that have been following our expansion" adds the sales manager, who is proud to be partner with the worldwine, sorry, the Worldwide: "It allows us to reach some younger customers who will discover what we can do in this region. And I'll be at the festival!” And the awards have been coming along for a few years now : the Chardonnay has been voted world champion 4 times in the wine country category, and the 2005 cuvée got the silver medal during the prestigious "World wine awards", organized by the very prestigious British magazine "Decanter" in the revelation category.
