Straight from Rotterdam, Charmaine shows a wide variety of influences that would please your ears, coming from a jazz background, she admits a passion for a wide « palette » of styles : from Jazz fusion to disco drawing towards Chicago house and even some chilled electronica sounds.

Coco Maria is a curator and selector with impeccable taste, originally from Mexico she now resides in Europe, she’s made a reputation as a specialist in South & Central American and Carribean nuggets : jazz, samba, cumbia, and all kinds of rarities from sunny and faraway places.

For some people Dego is a kind of god, for us he is a visionary. Half of the 4Hero duo, Dego has been « educating » our ears for a good part of the 90’s whether with his sidekick Marc Mac, behind the decks or with his label 2000Black. DEGO is a connoisseur who knows how to give meaning through his mixes and he’s been preaching the good musical word without any limit of style and no consideration towards any hype.

Valentina Magaletti’s second project presented during the evening dedicated to her, HOLY TONGUE favors amen break over a square 4/4 tempo, and they develop a kind of organic and noisy Drum’n’Bass – in any case the band’s performance will not leave you indifferent

A young genius from the Chicago jazz scene, Isaiah Collier (not to be confused with the basketball player of the same name) has been spotted on tracks with Chance The Rapper or Jimetta Rose with whom he will play on 4th july at Theatre de La Mer. Isaiah Collier does not limit himself to any style or genre and his talent allows him to be at ease on soulful and gospel atmospheres as well as on more cosmic or even downright intergalactic tracks!

The least we could say is that IZCO has made a big impression on us last year at the WF when he took over the desks at the Theatre de La Mer. His sets mix heavily influenced 90’s infused jungle and soulful reggae This year, Gilles and I wanted to renew the experience, but this time under the sun of Sète and with our feet in the sand – and that should make his mix even warmer

We love JAMZ, we love her, for her simplicity and her love for the Worldwide Festival of course, but obviously also for the power of her sets, her musicality, her passion for all the music we defend here – and the icing on the cake JAMZ loves Sète

Discovered with the album “The Light Bearer”, we loved her hoarse and powerful voice and the eclectic tracks of her album: from free jazz to more soulful or spoken word titles. The project dedicated to her tonight will be performed with Isaiah Collier who has often accompanied her on stage but also with The Voices of Creation, a traditional choir from Los Angeles.

They made their French debut on the stage of the Théâtre de La Mer back in 2012, and they wanted to come back to Sète to pay tribute to Gilles ,of course, but also to the audience of the Worldwide festival. For this occasion, we are promised some nice surprises and maybe a few guests to make this concert unforgettable.

Like Galiano (who will play the same night), Kyoto Jazz Massive is an institution. Founded by the Okino brothers in 1992 in Kyoto, the duo was first signed by COMPOST rec. and then spotted by Gilles Peterson who has always supported them – Shuya Okino describes his band as making electric jazz fusing all the tendencies that derive from it : broken beat, Soul, funk and disco. In 2002, the two brothers transformed the project into a full-fledged group with vocalist Vanessa Freeman among others, the reception in Europe and Japan was incredible, the public and critics applauded the band’s performances.

Lulled at an early age by the Soul and Funk records her mother would play at home, Lakuti has acquired a solid musical background. Immersed in this musical environment, she began her career as a DJ in the 1990s, DJing at raves in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1997, Lakuti landed in London after 3 years studying film making in Canada.
Lakuti currently lives in Europe, and travels around the world delivering energetic, deep and emotionally charged house music. The DJ always selects her tracks with finesse, and signs her mixes by playing sharp musical references, such as Tall Black Guy, Tony Allen, Loleatta Holloway or The Pretenders.
In 2007, Lakuti launched her own label which she named Uzuri. Since then, in addition to develloping the label, she has founded a booking agency, which represents and supports artists from the New York underground house scene such as Fred P, DJ Qu, or Levon Vincent.

Official resident of the WF, over the years, Lefto (or Stefto as we tend to call him) has become a reference – while at first very focused on beats and hip hop, Stéphane being a bulimic of new sound and tendencies has been able to broaden his palette, and thanks to an irreproachable technique inherited from his turntablist years, he knows how to serve us well-taut mixes that are always fine and classy.

Léna C. is a young DJ and producer from Brittany based in the north of England between Manchester and Leeds. Her mixes and tracks have been played on NTS, My Analog Journal, Worldwide FM, Tsugi to name a few! From Algerian raï to Thai funk to Turkish psyche, from local synth-pop to Colombian cumbia, Léna draws her inspiration from world music from past era into the future.

Full Time Member of Eve’s Drop Collective, Lil Minx has an undeniable talent for finding and playing fresh music selection – – nurtured with music at a very young age by her parents who were fans of 70’s soul funk and Ghanaian music – Francine has that “je ne sais quoi” that makes her mixes unstoppable and contagious.

We’ve been following Mab’Ish for a while; Her freshness, her enthusiasm and passion for the music that make us move (think and/or even chill) got us hooked from the beginning.

Through her selections, Meladub will transport you into her Dubwise universe, which goes from the UK Roots/dub/Digital/Stepper foundations to World music and Oriental Dub nuggets.

Led by a young Louis Treffel, the NCY Milky Band, backing band for BMM Records, breaks down barriers with music influenced by hip-hop, electronica and french composers from the 60’s and 70’s such as Vannier or De Roubaix. Four musicians on the astral path of psychedelic jazz-funk, inspired by the legends of the 70’s library music and beyond. NCY Milky Band (aka « Le Milky ») are part of this new emancipated french scene, exploring every possibilities to hybrid their take on jazz, rhythmic and percussive, combining generous melodies with heady harmonies and loops.
Their first two albums “Burn’IN” and “100 Ans” received support from Bandcamp, Spotify, Rolling Stone, The Quietus, Gilles Peterson, Fip, Nova, and elicited reactions from artists (Laurent Garnier, Thomas de Pourquery, Lefto…) and labels (International Anthem, Jakarta Records, Stones Throw/Now-Again).
After a successful tour in France, NCY are working on a new album for 2024 and they cant wait to play at WF.

Tonight, in addition to presenting his band to the audience of the Worldwide festival, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band, he will be accompanied by Dego on the turntables all night long !!

As a DJ, his NTS residency – now in it’s 11th year – boasts a timeless selection of heartfelt soulful jams. With each set, Suncut brings a feel-good approach, embodying the old-school ethos where… “it’s about the party, the people, the sound.”

It’s hard to fit V/Z into a specific box, listening to their “hit” “candles” one will think of Krautrock music drenched in a racy and versatile cold wave ;but Valentina Magaletti and ZONGAMIN, the two artists behind V/Z, don’t bother with any limits and their music sometimes flies toward the Jamaican coasts bringing powerful dub sounds and effects into the mix !!!.

Danny Wheeler is a jack-of-all-trades a bit like Swindle, with a well-marked Drum’n’Bass/Jungle and Breakbeat musical background, he produces very special House music – WheelUP has an extraordinary pedigree since he’s been spotted at a very young age by J Majick, he’s been A&R for INfraRed rec, then he will have a long serie of releases on labels as varied as V Recordings, Tru Thoughts on which he’s released two albums; one in 2021 and the other in 2023 – two albums to be discovered urgently waiting for the next one – whose titles Danny will surely test in Sète this Monday July 1st
